To help “spread the love” this Valentine’s Day, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) will host a special “Hearts and Paws” dog food distribution event to make sure that no dog goes hungry. Owners in need can drive up to the North Side Campus (1101 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15233) on Monday, February 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. where staff will then load each vehicle with free dog food.
If pet owners are facing difficulties in providing for their pets, HARP is committed to helping keep pets in loving homes and has resources available. Through our pet retention programs, families who are experiencing difficult times are given assistance to avoid the further heartbreak of losing their beloved pet. Making sure that no pet goes hungry, Ellie’s Pet Pantry supplies community members with food and basic supplies for their pets, assisting those who are experiencing financial insecurity and struggling.
In 2021, Ellie’s Food Pantry provided over 72,000 pounds of food through regularly scheduled and emergency distributions.
