Volunteer Positions – Medical
Kennel Medicine | 8:00 am – 6:30pm | Daily
Volunteers working with kennel medicine assist our veterinary technicians in delivering daily care to animals recovering in our treatment wards. Responsibilities include administering PM medications, triaging incoming animals, giving medicated baths, cleaning kennel spaces between animals, and helping with general organization and restocking. Volunteers will also practice safe animal restraint and assist in monitoring animals during treatment.
Previous experience in animal handling or veterinary care is helpful but not required—training will be provided. Relevant experience may include coursework or work in veterinary technology, pre-vet programs, animal shelters, or similar fields.
To ensure consistency and allow for training, volunteers are asked to commit to two shifts per month (only two required, but more encouraged).
Surgical Services | 2:00pm – 6:00pm every day except Saturday | Saturday 8:00 am- 6:30 pm
Surgical Services volunteers assist veterinary technicians in our surgical suites with a range of supportive duties. Tasks include cleaning and preparing surgical instruments, preparing animals for routine procedures, assisting with safe restraint, monitoring patients in recovery, and restocking surgical supplies. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the day’s procedures and volunteer comfort level.
Familiarity with animal handling or surgery prep is beneficial but not required. We provide hands-on training and supervision to ensure volunteers are confident and safe in the surgical environment.
Volunteers are asked to commit to two shifts per month (only two required, but more encouraged) to maintain continuity of care and training.
