The following products are some of the more popular items we have available for purchase, but is not an inclusive list. To assist members of our communities with the costs associated with caring for their best friends, our prices are often much lower than those at other facilities. In addition to our brick-and-mortar location, we also offer an online pharmacy.
Heartworm Preventatives
The American Heartworm Society recommends annual Heartworm testing for all dogs, as well as a heartworm prevention medication all year round.(https://www.heartwormsociety.org/ ) Heartworm prevention products such as Heartgard, Iverheart, and Advantage Multi are prescription medications and, in accordance with the State Board of Veterinary Medicine, owners must either have a yearly exam performed at our office or have a written prescription from another vet prior to purchasing prescription heartworm product.

- Advantage Multi: prevents heartworm, fleas, plus helps to control intestinal parasites and ear mites
Flea and Tick Preventatives
Fleas and ticks can pose a risk to the health of both you and your pet. Ours veterinarians recommend year round flea and tick control for all animals, even if they exclusively stay indoors. We offer a variety of different products to meet pet’s individual needs, including both prescription and non-prescription flea and tick control medications. In accordance with the State Board of Veterinary Medicine, owners must either have a yearly exam done at our office or have a written prescription from another vet prior to purchasing a prescription flea and tick product.

- Frontline Gold: prevents fleas and ticks
- Advantage: prevents fleas
- Seresto Collars: prevents fleas and ticks
- Capstar-oral, a treatment that kills all adult fleas. This product does not prevent infestation, but can help provide quick relief for heavy flea infestations. This product should be used in conjunction with a monthly flea and tick preventative to ensure re-infestation does not occur.
- Knockout Area Spray: area/room treatment
Prescription products
- Advantage Multi: prevents heartworm, fleas, and helps to control intestinal parasites and ear mites
- Nexgard: prevents fleas and ticks
Dental care
The American Veterinary Dental College states that “brushing your pet’s teeth is the single most effective means to maintain oral health between professional cleanings” (Source: https://www.avdc.org/carefordogs.html). At Humane Animal Rescue, we carry toothpaste and several types of toothbrushes specifically made for your dogs and cats.
Anxiety Relief
Our shelters rehome thousands of pets every year and, although finding a new home is cause for celebration, the transition from shelter life to a new living space can be stressful for adopted pets. Our clinics offer several products to help your newly adopted pet with this introduction, as well as help with reducing anxiety during other stressful events your pet may encounter such as fireworks, traveling, and storms.
- Canine D.A.P collars (Dog Appeasing Pheromone): D.A.P collars are a synthetic copy of the natural appeasing pheromone proven to help support dogs during stressful situations.
- Feliway spray and diffusers: Contains synthetic versions of naturally occurring feline pheromones. Great at supporting your cat while they adjust to their new home, but also during times of additional stresses such as visits to the vet’s office, holidays, and traveling
