Become a Pet Mom (or Dad) with Special Mother’s Day Adoption Discount

Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) currently has an abundance of dogs and is encouraging the public to visit and adopt at HARP’s East Side (6926 Hamilton Avenue) or North Side (1101 Western Avenue) locations. With Mother’s Day this weekend, HARP is offering 50% off adult dog (6 months or older) adoption fees. Discount does not apply to puppy adoptions. Go to humaneanimalrescue.org/adopt to view all the animals currently available for adoption.

All available dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, given vaccinations appropriate for their age at the time of adoption, treated for parasites, and given flea/tick protection. In addition, dogs 6 months or older are tested for heartworm.

HARP has recently seen an increase in the number of animals entering the shelter, especially strays. With warmer weather, more animals are outside. They may escape, and if they are without a collar and identification, they may be brought to HARP by animal control officers. It is also a reminder of the importance of microchipping.

Microchipping is the best way to protect your pet should they go missing. Humane Animal Rescue encourages local pet owners to get their animals microchipped by offering microchipping services by appointment at both the North Side and East Side Veterinary Medical Centers. Additional information about those services can be found online at humaneanimalrescue.org/veterinarycenters/microchipping/
