Animal Tales is a program where children ages 4–17 can read to adoptable animals at HARP’s East Side shelter. Kids can sign up for as many or as few reading dates as they’d like! They can bring their favorite books or choose from our collection and read to animals whose kennels display a “Read to me next!” sign.

This heartwarming program helps socialize our shelter animals, giving them a better chance at adoption, while also helping children build confidence and improve their literacy skills.
