Savage and his owner’s story is a great example of our pet retention programs in action!

Savage’s owner came to surrender his pup because he had not eaten in four days and had been vomiting. Unfortunately, his owner did not have the funds to have him treated. Savage also wanted nothing to do with shelter life and would not have been an adoption candidate if surrendered.

Instead, we had the owner temporarily surrender Savage (he needed to be sedated to even be examined!). We were able to do surgery on him the next day, and found that he did have an intestinal blockage. He did very well in surgery, but was again not happy to be in our care afterwards and wasn’t eating anything while here, we suspected from stress.

Thankfully Savage was very happily reclaimed by his grateful owner and given post-operative and monitoring directions. He is doing very well and a full recovery is expected!
