Ellie’s Pet Pantry

Free pet food? It seems too good to be true! Ellie’s Pet Pantry is Humane Animal Rescue’s initiative to ensure that no animal goes to bed hungry. Life happens, and unfortunately, some owners fall on hard times. A few bags of food shouldn’t be the difference between an animal staying in a loving home with a family or coming to the shelter.

Ellie’s Pet Pantry has been helping animals in the Pittsburgh region since 2010. The program began at our North Side campus, and we were recently excited to expand Ellie’s to our East End campus as well. Together, we have been able to serve a greater part of the Pittsburgh area, and we continue to help as many pets as possible!

How can your pet be an Ellie’s pet? First, all of our Ellie’s pets are spayed/neutered and live indoors. If your pet isn’t spayed/neutered, don’t worry! We can help anyone get a pet altered through our veterinary wellness centers so that the animal can receive food.

Once you have been approved for the program, you can just give us a call when food is needed, and we will put you onto our distribution list. Owners then come to either of our locations on the last Wednesday of the month to pick up pet food. Sometimes there is even a line of loving owners at our door when we begin distribution. We love helping you support your furry family member!

How can you support Ellie’s? We always need donations! Some months we run out of certain types of food and are unable to provide as much as we wish we could. Canned cat and dog food are hot commodities, and we can never have enough of it. Dry food is always a necessity as well. You are welcome to bring any food donation to either campus during our typical hours of operation. Together, we can make sure all Pittsburgh pets have full bellies and homes where they are loved.
