Orpheus

In Greek mythology, Orpheus was known for his poems and songs so beautiful they could soften even the hardest hearts. Our Orpheus may not play a lyre or recite love poems, but he has a gift of his own: a remarkable capacity for love. Orpheus arrived at the shelter after being abandoned and left to fend for himself. He was found hiding in a corner, suffering from severe eye infections that had damaged his eyes beyond repair. To relieve his pain and give him a fresh start, both eyes were removed. Now blind and still learning to navigate the world in a new way, the scared cat we found has blossomed into an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy who wants nothing more than to be close to the people he trusts. The myth of Orpheus teaches us that the people you love are always right behind you, even if you can’t see them. Orpheus can't see the people who love him, but that doesn't stop him from loving them right back. He'll hear your voice, follow your footsteps, and seek out your affection with a confidence that grows a little more every day. And while the Orpheus of myth was forever separated from the one he loved, we're hoping our Orpheus finds the opposite: someone who will never leave him behind. In return, he'll offer unwavering affection and a reminder that even after the darkest journeys, there can be joy, comfort, and love waiting on the other side. Thank you for your interest in adoption! We are open to process adoptions on a walk-in basis Tuesday – Friday from Noon to 6 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, adoptions are from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
