Release Site Application
The final step of a successful rehabilitation process is the patient’s release! Once our rehabbers are confident an animal is ready to return to the wild, they begin looking for an appropriate property for release. Each species has unique habitat requirements, crucial to survival so staff is always looking for a variety of sites to meet the high demand. If you are interested in being a release site, below are some general guidelines we look for:
- Property is privately owned
- No outdoor cats
- Within an hour of the Clinic
- Access to a year round water-source
- Neither hunting nor trapping allowed on property and preferably not on neighboring lands as well
- Not near high traffic area
- In some cases, we ask property owners to assist with soft releases
If you think your property would be a safe space for wildlife, please download the application below and email it to Lauren Gibbons at lgibbons@humaneanimalrescue.org. Our release site coordinator carefully reviews each application and, if selected, will be in contact with you to arrange a visit of the property. If you are submitting an application during our peak season (May through September), please be advised we do not schedule visits until the fall. We hope you will consider applying and assisting us with the most exciting part of the rehab process!
