You can provide critical funding to continue life-changing programs and services that benefit our region’s pets\, people\, and wildlife. \nMINI of Pittsburgh will be donating $25 for every test drive taken in April. \nAll are welcome for food\, test drives\, and of course lovable puppies\, kittens\, and more. \nYou can help too with a separate contribution of: \n\n$10 provides food and care for an injured songbird at our Wildlife • Rehabilitation Center.\n$25 supplies vaccinations for five cats.\n$50 helps cover the cost of spay and neuter surgeries for four dogs.\n$100 provides emergency medical care for an injured or sick animal.

DESCRIPTION:Every spring\, hundreds of baby wildlife\, some injured and abandoned\, arrive at the center. In preparation for the new arrivals\, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) will host a Wildlife Baby Shower to help stock up on supplies needed for the busy season ahead. \nThis fun-filled event is set for Saturday\, April 22 (Earth Day) from 10 a.m. to Noon at HARP’s East Side shelter (6926 Hamilton Ave. Pittsburgh 15208). During the celebration\, guests can enjoy animal encounters\, crafts\, snacks and more. Just like a human baby shower\, the wildlife shower would not be complete without gifts! \nGifts brought to the Wildlife Baby Shower will help the Wildlife Center meet the many needs of the animals. A complete “gift registry” can be found here and include common items that can be found in your local grocery store like paper towels\, canned mixed fruit\, and unsalted nuts. Items may be brought to the baby shower or donors may select items from the wish list for delivery to the Wildlife Center.

Animal Tales is a program in which children ages 4-12 can come and read to animals in the East Side shelter! \nParticipants attend an orientation to learn all about our HARP shelter\, the domestic animals here\, and the keys to observing animal behavior. Once you and your child attend an orientation\, they can sign up for as many or as few assigned dates to come read to the animals! Children can bring their own books (or choose from our collection)\, grab a carpet square\, and then read to animals whose kennels are marked with a “Read to me next!” sign. \nThis program not only helps to socialize the animals in our shelter to help expedite their adoption\, but also helps children improve their confidence and literacy as well. \nNew for 2023! If you and your child have attended an orientation and at least one reading session in 2022\, then you do not need to sign up for an orientation. If this applies to your child\, then in lieu of signing up for orientation\, you MUST sign up for Animal Tales on this Form before you can register for any reading sessions through Active Network. This helps to ensure we have all participating 2023 Animal Tales readers on our mailing list and an accurate count of all of our readers. \nRegistration for orientations and each reading session is through our online Active Network software.
