For 150 years, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) has been a lifeline for animals, pet owners, and the greater Pittsburgh community. On this Giving Tuesday, your donation will ensure that HARP continues its vital work. Here’s why HARP is more than just a shelter—it’s a community resource for both pets and people:

This Giving Tuesday, your support is critical to helping us continue these efforts. By donating, you will help us:

  • Expand our services and reach more animals and families in need.
  • Sustain our mobile veterinary clinics and provide essential care directly to underserved communities.
  • Continue our investigations to protect animals from abuse and neglect.
  • Support the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, allowing us to treat and release even more injured and orphaned wildlife back into their natural habitats.

Help us create a brighter future for animals and their people. Donate today and make a lasting difference in our community!

Your Support Brings Hope to Families in Need

“I never imagined that life could change so drastically in just one year. After becoming disabled, I lost my car, my home, and found myself facing overwhelming anxiety, depression, and PTSD. My 12-year-old granddaughter is navigating these same struggles, and our two puppies, Tiny and Snickerdoodle, have become a lifeline for us both as registered service animals. But even with their support, I feared we wouldn’t be able to afford the care they needed.

Thanks to the Humane Health Coalition (HHC), we found the help we so desperately needed. This incredible collaboration gave us access to pet healthcare when we had nowhere else to turn. Without it, I truly believe we’d still be stuck in a dark place. The compassion and care we received have been a profound blessing to me, my granddaughter, and our pups. We’re so grateful to everyone who has made this possible, giving us a brighter, more stable future. Be blessed.”

Help Cats in Crisis Find Hope This Giving Tuesday

In March 2024, nearly 60 cats were rescued from a dire hoarding situation in Central Pennsylvania by the Humane Society of Cambria County and the Central PA Humane Society. Many of these cats were found abandoned in heartbreaking conditions—coated in urine and feces, with matted or missing fur, and requiring immediate veterinary care. Given the sheer number of animals in need, officials reached out to Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) for urgent assistance.

On March 13, HARP Humane Officers responded, transporting 22 of these cats to our East Side and North Side shelters. Our medical and animal care teams quickly stepped in, providing critical health assessments, treatment for painful dental and skin conditions, and compassionate care to help these cats decompress and adjust to positive human interaction.

This Giving Tuesday, your generosity can provide vital support to animals like these who have endured extreme hardship. Your donation will help fund the medical treatments, grooming, and emotional rehabilitation these cats need to find the loving homes they deserve.

Together, we can offer hope, healing, and a second chance at life for animals in crisis. Thank you for being a part of their journey to a better tomorrow.

Give Hope to Animals Like Athena This Giving Tuesday

Athena’s journey with HARP began in October 2023, when she was rescued by our Humane Investigations team from a challenging situation. In need of immediate medical care and a safe space to recover, Athena came to us with painful skin issues and a timid spirit. With weeks of attentive care, her skin began to heal, and her joyful personality started to shine through.

Soon, Athena became a cherished favorite at HARP. She loved racing around the outdoor runs with her toys, taking long, sniff-filled walks, and doing anything for a treat—especially a piece of cheese! Her sweet, playful nature won the hearts of everyone she met.

After 291 days with us, Athena finally found her forever home. Stories like Athena’s are only possible through the generous support of our community. This Giving Tuesday, you can help more animals in need find healing, happiness, and a loving home.

Your donation provides vital medical care, food, and shelter to animals awaiting adoption. Together, we can offer animals like Athena a brighter future. Thank you for helping make these life-changing moments possible.

Celebrate White Rose: A Journey from Hoarding to Happiness

White Rose’s story is a testament to the power of second chances. She was discovered in a hoarding house in Allegheny County, where she and seven other dogs endured deplorable, unsanitary conditions. Like many animals in similar situations, White Rose and the other dogs were severely under-socialized and in urgent need of care.

Our dedicated Humane Investigations team intervened, rescuing the dogs from their harsh environment and bringing them to HARP. Each dog received essential medical attention, including dental surgery, vaccinations, nail trims, microchipping, and spaying/neutering. With compassion and patience, our team helped these pups heal and learn to trust again.

We are thrilled to announce that White Rose has now found her forever home! She is embracing her new life filled with love, play, and the attention she deserves.

Your support makes stories like White Rose’s possible. This Giving Tuesday, consider donating to help us continue our mission of rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need. Together, we can create more happy endings for deserving dogs like White Rose! Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
